San Antonio, Texas

We are very excited to start our first journey as full time RVers!  It has been about 6 months since we first started serious preparations for this day.  From selling the house and downsizing our belongings, to retiring from our jobs, we have been working hard to get ready to travel around the country and explore new things.

We set out from San Angelo on 9/11/2018 and headed to San Antonio, which is about 3 hours away.  We stopped at Iron Horse RV to have some annual maintenance work done on our coach before beginning our big trip.  It was great to stop in and see friends Brian and Julie, as well as have lunch with April.

We love San Antonio!  The River Walk is my favorite place to visit– it’s like a tropical paradise with the flowing water and so many beautiful plants and flowers.  There is an abundance of restaurants and sights to see, as well.  Dinner at the Tower of the Americas is a special treat.  The Chart House restaurant is at the top of the 750 foot observation tower, which revolves to provide a wonderful view of the city.  The tower was built for the 1968 World’s Fair and is the tallest building in San Antonio.  Besides having a wonderful dinner, you can also go to the observation deck, view several 4D films, or visit the gift shop.

We only stayed for 3 days this time, but we visit San Antonio often.  It’s easily accessible from I-10 and the list of things to see and do is long, including The Alamo, SeaWorld, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, San Antonio Zoo, and numerous museums, missions, and parks.  We will definitely be back to this beautiful city!
